Take your project to the next level by adding Halation to your footage. A byproduct of shooting on film, Halation adds a red glow around the bright part of your image, enhancing the romantic feel of celluloid film.
What is a halo?
Halo is a by-product of shooting on film where bright parts of the image take on a red glow or “halo”. Film stock is made up of different emulsion layers that trap light in the blue, green, and red channels; along with an anti-halo backing layer that absorbs excess light. In the case of particularly bright images, light can often refract off the anti-halo backing and back into the red channel, causing halos. This is most often seen on bright light sources such as lamps, car headlights, and neon signs.
