Halo is a by-product of shooting on film where bright parts of the image take on a red glow or “halo”. Film stock is made up of different emulsion layers that trap light in the blue, green, and red channels; along with an anti-halo backing layer that absorbs excess light. In the case of particularly bright images, light can often refract off the anti-halo backing and back into the red channel, causing halos. This is most often seen on bright light sources such as lamps, car headlights, and neon signs. What is FilmConvert Halo?
